About the position

The Director of Utility-Scale Project Execution at Mainspring Energy, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the design, permitting, construction, and commissioning of utility-scale projects. This role is crucial for executing the company's mission to deliver scalable, fast-ramping, fuel-flexible capacity to the utility segment. The director will build and lead teams, develop project execution strategies, and ensure successful project delivery across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage first installations to gain first-hand experience with design and installation processes for grid-scale linear generator projects.
• Develop the project execution strategy, processes, and partnerships required to achieve installation of 10-200+ MW projects at distribution and transmission voltage.
• Build and lead teams including Applications/Project Engineering and Project Management to support sales, site selection, cost estimation, interconnection, and construction.
• Measure success based on sales and construction outcomes, and customer service satisfaction.
• Build a system to schedule and track simultaneous projects for accurate revenue forecasting.
• Develop a contractor qualification process and RFP strategy.
• Negotiate partnerships and master agreements with EPCs, consultants, and major equipment suppliers.
• Manage and progressively decline cost targets for the installation process.

Requirements

• 15+ years of demonstrated experience delivering utility-scale BESS/solar/wind projects to COD.
• Full understanding of transmission-level interconnection processes and planning/building department dynamics.
• Experience in team and process building, RFP writing/management, and contract negotiation.
• Strong budget management and project tracking skills using PM tools.
• Demonstrated ability to innovate and refine processes to reduce costs and drive efficiency.
• Direct experience with major equipment contracting/procurement.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with gas interconnection processes.
• Knowledge of safe harbor strategies involving major equipment.
