About the position

The Director, Vaccines External Communications will oversee U.S. external communications for various vaccine projects, focusing on public relations that align with brand marketing objectives. This role involves collaboration with multiple teams within Corporate Affairs and the Vaccines Business Unit, requiring a strategic thinker who can create impactful PR programs and manage agency resources effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic counsel and develop communications plans to achieve revenue goals for the Vaccines business.
  • Develop and execute creative communications strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners on communication initiatives.
  • Conceptualize and oversee social media and influencer programs.
  • Lead earned media strategy in partnership with Global Media Relations.
  • Manage issues and direct rapid-response communications.
  • Lead external announcements for regulatory, clinical, and commercial milestones.
  • Manage projects, budgets, and agencies.
  • Track and measure communications metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in communications with a focus on developing and delivering strategies.
  • Experience in a corporate or large global organization.
  • Proven track record of providing strategic counsel to senior executives.
  • Strong writing, editing, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of PR/communications strategy and integrated marketing strategy.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging social media and digital communications trends.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams with diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in biopharmaceutical or life sciences communications.
  • Mastery of overall communications skills including strategy and planning.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and influence.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and presentation skills.
