About the position

The Director of Web Communications at Collin County Community College is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the college's web communications. This role ensures that the content on the college's website is accurate, timely, accessible, aesthetically appealing, and performs well in terms of analytics. The director will coordinate web content and presentation among various internal departments to maintain the website as a premier example of a higher education platform that aligns with Collin College's branding and serves student needs effectively. In this position, the director will manage and oversee all content published on the college website, ensuring its accuracy, relevance, and timeliness. They will monitor competitive and peer institutions for best practices and make recommendations for continuous enhancement of digital platforms. The director will develop and implement content strategies aimed at enhancing user engagement and supporting the college's objectives. This includes coordinating with various departments to ensure that content aligns with organizational goals and identifying opportunities for digital marketing campaigns. The director will also be responsible for ensuring that the college website meets ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessibility standards and will implement and maintain best practices for accessibility across all digital content. Regular audits and assessments will be conducted to identify and rectify any accessibility issues. Additionally, the director will maintain and enhance the overall visual appeal and usability of the college website through the use of photos, graphics, and other visual elements, collaborating with designers to create user-friendly webpages. The role requires staying updated with industry trends and best practices in web design and template development, utilizing analytics tools to track website performance, user engagement, and conversion rates, and generating reports to inform decision-making. The director will establish the strategic direction of the college's website initiatives in support of the strategic objectives set by the college's Board of Trustees and administrative leadership. They will oversee the college's public website, ensuring ease of use for stakeholders, and set standards for customer responsiveness and proactive updates to enhance user experience. The director will manage a team of web content creators, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate web content and presentation among various internal departments.

  • Implement consistent branding and messaging across all digital platforms.
  • Provide website updates and send emergency alerts as part of the crisis communications team.
  • Ensure the college website meets ADA accessibility standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and rectify accessibility issues.
  • Maintain and enhance the overall visual appeal and usability of the college website through photos, graphics, and other visual elements.
  • Collaborate with designers to create visually appealing and user-friendly webpages.
  • Identify and facilitate template design development and changes to enhance webpage layouts.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in web design and template development.
  • Utilize analytics tools to track website performance, user engagement, and conversion rates.
  • Generate reports and insights to inform decision-making and optimize digital strategies.
  • Continuously monitor and improve SEO performance.
  • Establish the strategic direction of the college's website initiatives and roadmap in support of the strategic objectives established by the college's Board of Trustees and administrative leadership.
  • Oversee the college's public website and ensure its ease of use by stakeholders.
  • Set a standard for customer responsiveness and proactive updates to enhance the user experience.
  • Stay up to date with stakeholder preferences and proactively suggest new initiatives.
  • Manage a team of web content creators and train users as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Media, Communications, Marketing, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least four (4) years of related experience in digital communications, web content management, or marketing.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of web design principles, UX/UI best practices, and SEO techniques.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • ADA compliance experience preferred.
  • Two (2) years of project management experience preferred.
