About the position

The Disability and Leave Client Advocate at Sun Life is responsible for managing inquiries and service requests related to employee benefits, including life insurance and disability coverage. This hybrid role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits, while also providing guidance and support to the Client's HR team. The position emphasizes building relationships, understanding benefit administration, and continuously improving the Client experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the intake and resolution of inquiries related to employee benefits.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with executives, staff, and vendors.
  • Master knowledge of the Client's enforced Sun Life benefits.
  • Serve as the point of contact for Sun Life benefit administration.
  • Provide guidance to the Client HR team regarding disability and benefit requests.
  • Participate in HR meetings to address questions about Sun Life's benefits.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders for accurate processing of employee benefits.
  • Track and research disability claim activity through systems.
  • Assist in claims submission by identifying missing information.
  • Monitor claims progression and facilitate follow-up as needed.
  • Communicate with claims examiners regarding trends and employee experiences.
  • Identify and implement improvements in the benefit administration process.
  • Utilize administrative systems to enhance productivity and support team members.
  • Analyze trends and perform root cause analysis to improve Client experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree with 2+ years of related work experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent data entry skills and basic math skills.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience administering leave and benefit management programs.
  • Understanding of the leave of absence process and eligibility requirements.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to support team work.
