About the position

The federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program is an integral part of the procurement process for federally funded projects and ensures that disadvantaged businesses have opportunities to compete fairly for contracts and subcontracts relating to construction, professional services, supplies, equipment, materials, and other services for DOT-assisted contracts. A DBE Program Coordinator oversees the City's DBE Program by certifying DBEs, administering the race-neutral DBE Program for projects funded by the DOT, assisting DBEs during the bidding process, monitoring DBE participation in federally funded projects, and coordinating outreach to the community. The current vacancy exists in the General Services Department. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of three (3) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Certifying DBEs and administering the race-neutral DBE Program for DOT-funded projects.
  • Assisting DBEs during the bidding process.
  • Monitoring DBE participation in federally funded projects.
  • Coordinating outreach to the community.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, engineering, construction management, industrial technology, or closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of contract compliance work experience which involved contract investigation and administration.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License at the time of appointment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
