About the position

The Disaster Recovery Specialist position within the Small Business Administration's Office of Capital Access is responsible for managing inquiries related to the Disaster Loan Program. This role involves providing detailed information to both internal and external customers, assisting borrowers with loan processes, and preparing written responses to inquiries. The position requires effective communication skills and the ability to handle complex customer service situations, particularly in the context of federally declared disasters.

Responsibilities

• Respond to a variety of customer inquiries regarding federally declared disasters and the SBA's disaster loan program.
• Prepare written responses to email inquiries received through the SBA's disaster customer service mailbox.
• Assist lower-graded or new employees with responding to customer service inquiries received by telephone or email.
• Help borrowers complete their loan closing documents and answer questions regarding the loan closing and disbursement process.
• Accept borrower payments using online payment processing tools.
• Utilize various computer systems to research customer inquiries, record call activity, and prepare appropriate forms and letters.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Favorable background investigation and credit check are required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government travel credit card.
• Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level for GS-09 applicants, or GS-09 level for GS-11 applicants.
