About the position

The Discrimination Law Supervisor at the State of Minnesota is responsible for overseeing nondiscrimination and harassment investigations, as well as analyzing ADA accommodation requests. This role ensures compliance with employment discrimination laws within a union environment and provides guidance to managers on relevant legal frameworks. The position offers a hybrid work schedule and is integral to fostering an inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities

• Supervising discrimination and harassment investigators and ADA staff.
• Analyzing complex reasonable accommodation requests and assessing undue hardships.
• Assisting managers in understanding employment discrimination laws and state personnel rules.
• Responding to discrimination charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and/or the MN Department of Human Rights.
• Drafting position statements and responding to subpoenas and information requests.

Requirements

• Three years of experience supervising professionals conducting workplace investigations or representing employers in EEOC/Human Rights complaints.
• Four years of advanced professional experience conducting workplace investigations or representing employers in EEOC/Human Rights complaints.
• A JD degree from an ABA accredited law school substitutes for one year of advanced professional experience.
• Legal drafting skills to communicate findings clearly to various stakeholders.
• Legal analysis skills to comprehend and apply case law, statutes, and regulations.
