About the position
The Dish Machine Operator at Black Bear Diner is responsible for managing the dishwashing process to ensure that all utensils and service ware are cleaned, sanitized, and stocked for the kitchen and dining room. This role is crucial for maintaining the flow of operations and ensuring customer satisfaction through cleanliness and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Own the dishwashing process to ensure all utensils and service ware are cleaned and sanitized.
- Load, run, and unload the dish machine.
- Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems immediately.
- Monitor dish machine water temperature and chemical usage to ensure a sanitary wash cycle.
- Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware.
- Keep the dishroom clean and organized.
- Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for the dining room and kitchen.
- Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
- Assist other employees as needed in cleaning and organizing.
- Bag and haul dishroom trash to the dumpster at designated times.
- Complete sidework for the station and shift.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager-on-duty.
Requirements
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Familiarity with and practice of all company standards related to the position.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time on hard surfaces.
- Frequent reaching above waist, chest, and shoulder level as well as below waist level.
- Frequent to continuous need for manual dexterity of both hands.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
