About the position

The Dishwasher Aide position is a full-time role focused on supporting the dietary department by performing various tasks related to food service and kitchen maintenance. The aide will report to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor and is responsible for ensuring cleanliness and efficiency in the kitchen environment while assisting with meal preparation and service.

Responsibilities

  • Learn food service routine quickly.
  • Set up meal trays for service.
  • Strip down returned trays and wash dishes.
  • Assist with serving meals.
  • Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at the beginning of the shift.
  • Observe water temperatures of the dishwasher during cycles.
  • Operate the dishwasher effectively.
  • Prepare nourishments and snacks as needed.
  • Sweep and mop the kitchen area.
  • Carry out trash and garbage disposal.
  • Put groceries away in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Leave the kitchen clean and sanitary after shifts.
  • Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
  • Maintain floors by sweeping and mopping.
  • Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
  • Work cooperatively with personnel in all departments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.
