About the position

The Harpeth Hotel is seeking a dedicated Dishwasher/Steward to join their team in historic downtown Franklin. This full-time position involves maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and ensuring that all dishware is properly cleaned and organized. The role is essential for supporting the kitchen staff and providing a sanitary environment for food preparation and service.

Responsibilities

• Gather all dirty dishware from tubs brought to the dish room, rinse and stack in dish racks.
• Load full dish racks on the belt and ensure correct placement for automated washing.
• Operate an automatic dishwashing machine using controls as instructed.
• Load dishwashing solutions into automatic dispensers and regulate the output of detergents and chemicals.
• Manually scrub pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment that cannot be washed automatically.
• Inspect for cleanliness, manually dry with hand towels, and put away in correct places.
• Manually polish all silver, stainless steel, and pewter used in food service.
• Maintain the automatic dishwashing equipment in good condition and working order.
• Keep the dish room clean and orderly by sweeping, mopping, and organizing shelves.
• Mop kitchen floors and clean all kitchen work surfaces as scheduled.
• Gather and empty trash cans from kitchen work areas at the end of each shift.
• Sweep loading dock and kitchen entrance areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Some high school education or equivalent experience.
• Previous restaurant or hotel experience preferred.
• Ability to see minute objects at arm's length and read meters and controls.
• Dexterity to grasp dishes, push, pull, carry, and lift racks and carts.
• Ability to understand and follow written or verbal instructions.
