About the position

The Diet Aide / Dishwasher at Carle Health is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization within the dish room, delivering and retrieving patient carts, and ensuring proper food service operations. This role involves loading and unloading dish machines, washing utensils, and preparing food items for patients according to specific dietary requirements. The position emphasizes excellent hygiene practices and adherence to food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dish room.
• Load and unload dishes from dish machines.
• Wash pots, pans, and utensils that come into contact with food.
• Scrape identifiers off dishes and utensils.
• Remove garbage from the dish room.
• Complete daily and weekly cleaning tasks, including mopping floors and cleaning food service equipment.
• Deliver and retrieve patient tray carts from designated areas.
• Assemble meal trays accurately according to meal tickets and dietary restrictions.
• Prepare food items for patients per recipes and assigned par levels.
• Set up work stations with correct supplies and food items.
• Return clean utensils to proper storage areas.
• Assist in and/or direct scheduled cleaning duties.

Requirements

• ANSI Accredited Food Handler Certification within 30 days of hire.
• Cleaning or assembly work experience preferred but not required.
• Strong communication skills with co-workers and leadership, both written and verbal.
• Organizational skills with attention to detail.
