About the position

The Dishwasher position in the hospital food services team is essential for maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, which directly supports patient care and staff services. This role involves washing and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and assisting in the overall efficiency of the kitchen operations.

Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using industrial dishwashing machines and manual methods.
• Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing areas, sinks, and surrounding workspaces.
• Safely dispose of food waste and garbage in accordance with hospital guidelines.
• Assist in organizing and storing clean dishware and utensils in designated areas.
• Notify supervisors of any damaged or malfunctioning kitchen equipment.
• Support food preparation staff by providing clean tools and equipment promptly.
• Follow all hospital infection control and sanitation protocols.
• Adhere to state and local food safety regulations.
• Practice safe handling and operation of dishwashing equipment and cleaning supplies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in dishwashing or food service is a plus but not required; on-the-job training is provided.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.
• Understanding of basic sanitation practices and willingness to learn hospital-specific protocols.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a warm and humid environment.
