About the position

The Dispatch Supervisor at Recology Golden Gate is responsible for overseeing and managing transportation operations, including the dispatching and scheduling of drivers and vehicles. This role ensures compliance with operational policies and procedures while maintaining high customer satisfaction levels. The supervisor will utilize various transportation management systems to track shipments and coordinate with internal and external partners for efficient delivery.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage transportation operations, including dispatching and scheduling of drivers and vehicles.
• Utilize transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management, AS400, and SyteLine to track and monitor shipments.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or concerns related to transportation.
• Maintain accurate records of shipments, including data entry and documentation.
• Manage fleet operations, including maintenance, repairs, and compliance with safety regulations.
• Collaborate with shipping and receiving departments to coordinate inbound and outbound shipments.
• Implement and enforce policies and procedures to optimize transportation efficiency.
• Assure compliance of RouteWare application including route completion and addressing issues with drivers.
• Direct Operations Supervisors on specific recurring issues in the field.
• Manage attendance issues with drivers, including tardiness and unexcused absences.
• Review Post and Pre-Trip Books with Drivers and address any issues.
• Investigate and resolve City generated 311 customer inquiries and complaints.
• Supervise Route Maintenance Specialists, including scheduling and hiring.
• Analyze routes and make routing changes as necessary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5 years of supervisory experience required.
• 5 years of customer service experience required.
• 3 years of dispatching drivers experience required.
• 1 year of experience with AS400 required.
• 5 years of experience with Microsoft Office required.
• Working knowledge of commercial vehicles and dispatch systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Oracle Transportation Management.
• Knowledge of principles of personnel training, supervision, and evaluation.
