About the position

The Dispatch Supervisor at Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the transportation department. This role involves coordinating delivery schedules, managing driver routes, and ensuring compliance with safety and DOT regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and communication skills, along with a solid background in the transportation industry. Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with food sourcing, warehouse, and donors to direct drivers for effective grocery rescue and donation pick-ups.
  • Utilizes transportation software for optimization and ongoing improvement of routing.
  • Works with community impact team and agency partners to direct drivers throughout the delivery process.
  • Facilitates effective inventory transfers and shuttles between food bank sites in collaboration with inventory control and other teams.
  • Ensures adherence to food bank safety policies and DOT regulations, prioritizing safety in all operations.
  • Establishes and executes incident management processes as required by the transportation group.
  • Conducts ride-alongs with drivers to coach on efficiencies and safety compliance.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Transportation on operational findings.
  • Partners with Fleet Maintenance Coordinator to ensure DOT maintenance compliance on all equipment.
  • Manages departmental KPIs to ensure on-time delivery and performance goals are met.
  • Communicates insights and opportunities to the Director of Transportation.
  • Trains drivers to ensure food safety compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Licensed Class A CDL required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Class A CDL Driver.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in logistics, supply chain, business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of related experience and/or management training required.
  • Experience with GPS tracking and Trimble routing software preferred.
