About the position

Copeland Trucking is seeking a qualified Dispatcher to manage a fleet of over 70 trucks. The role involves dispatching assigned drivers, ensuring efficient communication, and providing excellent customer service. The Dispatcher will work both independently and as part of a team, utilizing technology to streamline processes and manage deliveries effectively.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch assigned drivers from the fleet of over 70 trucks.
• Manage drivers' schedules and ensure PTO requests are approved and logged with payroll.
• Provide accurate and professional customer service, including incoming order entry and outbound calls to customers.
• Monitor delivery status and provide problem resolution for customers and drivers.
• Select the best possible driver based on location, ability, vehicle specifications, and current workload.
• Navigate upwards of 30 drivers simultaneously to complete pickups and deliveries daily.
• Coach new drivers during their on-the-job training, providing additional instruction and guidance.
• Track deliveries using Omnitracs and update the Transportation Management Software (TMS).
• Document all issues accurately and completely, ensuring clear communication with customers, drivers, and office personnel.

Requirements

• 2 years of dispatching experience (required).
• Strong computer skills, particularly with Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to learn new technology and adapt to changing situations.
• Superior communication skills to relay detailed information effectively.

Nice-to-haves

• Dispatch or commercial driving experience (beneficial but not required).
• Load booking experience.
• Experience with PC Miler, TMS, DAT, Truckstop, and Omnitracs or other ELD.
