The Dispatcher role at American Expediting involves managing service requests and dispatching jobs to ensure timely delivery of shipments. Responsibilities

  • Process service requests within the American Expediting shipment management system, generate quotes, and verify shipping documentation where applicable.
  • Dispatch jobs according to customer requests, specifications, or needs.
  • Work with all American Expediting offices and local service providers to ensure efficient process transfer, meeting desired results of initial service requests.
  • Manage activities throughout the order fulfillment and transportation cycle to ensure established deadlines are met, including reporting wait times to customers in real time.
  • Retrieve real-time pictures of multi-shipment orders, dry ice replenishment, and shipments left at residences.
  • Document QA service issues, capacity issues, and multi-courier commissions.
  • Call independent contractor business partners when jobs are approaching out-of-bounds and proof of delivery deadlines.
  • Determine appropriate responses to emergencies, accidents, and breakdowns.
  • Record and maintain files and records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information.
  • Communicate Chain of Custody standards.
  • Consult with managerial personnel to meet operational goals.
  • Provide warehouse support as needed.
  • Perform other duties/tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED; Associate's degree or other vocational/technical school training beyond high school is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills; ability to foster teamwork and motivate/coach others.
  • Familiarity with time zones and military time.
  • Decisive under pressure and time constraints.
  • Knowledge of local and regional geographical areas; ability to accurately and quickly read maps.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Email.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
