About the position

The Dispatcher at Waste Management is responsible for coordinating and communicating with drivers to ensure efficient service delivery for residential, commercial, and roll-off lines of business. This role involves managing service orders, resolving issues, and optimizing routes using proprietary software. The position requires effective interaction with various stakeholders, including customers and operational staff, and may involve some travel. The work schedule includes early morning hours and potential overtime, with a focus on maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Dispatches drivers to calls as they are received, balancing cost and customer satisfaction.
• Works with sites and the service department to optimize routes based on customer needs.
• Determines daily driver staffing levels for responsiveness and productivity.
• Assigns routes and service tickets to drivers, managing route actions and completion.
• Handles incoming calls and emails from customer service and sales, managing requests for pick-up or delivery.
• Initiates communication with customers while drivers are on-site to resolve issues.
• Troubleshoots and resolves potential delivery and pick-up problems before they escalate.
• Ensures same-day service on missed pick-ups by managing routing and tracking driver movement.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D (accredited).
• Six months of relevant work experience in a team setting with effective communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment with excellent organizational skills.
• Computer skills to handle multiple programs and systems.
• Effective and professional communication via email, telephone, and 2-way devices.
• Desire and ability to learn Waste Management proprietary software applications.
