About the position

The Dispatcher at Waste Management (WM) plays a crucial role in coordinating and optimizing the routes for drivers in residential, commercial, and roll-off lines of business. This position involves effective communication with drivers and customers to resolve service issues, manage incoming service orders, and prepare routes for the next day. The role requires multitasking in a fast-paced environment and utilizing proprietary software to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Dispatches drivers to calls as they are received, balancing cost and customer satisfaction.
• Works with sites and the service department to optimize routes based on customer needs.
• Determines the daily level of driver staffing for responsiveness and productivity.
• Assigns routes and service tickets to appropriate drivers throughout the day and for the next day.
• Handles incoming calls and e-mails from customer service and sales department regarding pick-up or delivery requests.
• Initiates communication to customers while drivers are on-site to resolve issues.
• Troubleshoots and resolves potential delivery and pick-up problems before they result in service issues.
• Ensures same-day service on missed pick-ups by managing routing and tracking driver movement.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D (accredited).
• Six (6) months of relevant work experience in a team setting with effective communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment with excellent organizational skills.
• Computer skills with the ability to handle multiple programs and systems.
• Effective and professional communication via e-mail, telephone, and 2-way devices.
• Desire and ability to learn Waste Management proprietary software applications.
