About the position

The Dispatcher at Shoals Ambulance LLC is responsible for the deployment, tracking, and movement of ambulance units throughout the day, ensuring efficient response to emergencies and non-emergent requests. Under the direction of the Dispatch Supervisor, the Dispatcher will communicate orders to crews, operate communication equipment, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while adhering to Emergency Medical Dispatch protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and track ambulance units according to the local System Status Management Plan.
  • Broadcast orders to crews regarding runs, emergencies, and general information.
  • Operate radio, telephone, or computer equipment to relay information or orders to appropriate individuals.
  • Take caller information and determine the nature of run requests under Emergency Medical Dispatch protocol.
  • Dispatch emergent and non-emergent runs to crews in a timely manner and record pertinent information.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility.
  • Currently licensed, certified, or registered by the appropriate state agencies.
  • Currently certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch by MPDS or other appropriate organization.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and use good judgment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously without error.
  • Superior spatial orientation ability to read and interpret maps.
  • Good computer skills and ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
  • Ability to interact constructively and professionally with employees, public safety personnel, and medical staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous or current certification as Emergency Medical Technician.
