About the position

The Dispensary General Manager at Ascend Wellness Holdings is responsible for overseeing retail store operations, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and driving profitable sales. This role involves managing staff, compliance with cannabis regulations, and implementing effective business strategies to achieve company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire and staff the dispensary with top talent.
  • Coach, develop and maximize the success of all associates.
  • Ensure onboarding and continued training and education is delivered.
  • Analyze key business metrics and create action plans.
  • Lead weekly managers meetings and monthly team meetings.
  • Manage P&L by driving sales growth and managing expense budgets.
  • Direct workforce management activities and inventory activities.
  • Oversee operational execution and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure technology solutions are functioning as designed.
  • Implement loss prevention and security policies.
  • Become an expert in cannabis state-specific rules and regulations.
  • Develop proactive internal compliance controls and processes.
  • Foster relationships with regulators, inspectors, and law enforcement.
  • Ensure timely execution of required reports and audits.
  • Focus on customer loyalty and create engaging customer experiences.
  • Set visual standards in accordance with company direction.
  • Drive the success of promotions and loyalty programs.
  • Oversee product buys from wholesale partners.
  • Maintain the website and live menu to brand standards.
  • Lead change and innovation in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university.
  • Over five years of experience in multiple location leadership or high-volume retail sales environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing P&L responsibility.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of state-specific cannabis laws and regulatory compliance.
