About the position
The Distinguished Chief Engineer (CE) role at MITRE's Cyber Division is a leadership position responsible for developing the technical strategy and direction of the division. The CE will lead efforts in technical quality, impact, and strategy development while cultivating a strong team and fostering partnerships across various sectors. This role is pivotal in advancing cyber capabilities and ensuring the division's work aligns with national security objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical quality efforts and engage deeply in technical work, providing cyber solutions and analyses.
- Collaborate with other divisions to strengthen the technical workforce and ensure quality staff development.
- Define and drive technical quality initiatives across the Cyber mission areas.
- Integrate complex technical capabilities in areas such as AI, Cyber Resiliency, and Mission Engineering.
- Shape the content of the division's work program and ensure projects drive technical change.
- Identify critical topics to enhance the work program's impact for sponsors.
- Drive innovation through MITRE's internal R&D program and develop new program areas.
- Mentor and develop technical staff, fostering a culture of belonging and diversity.
- Develop and manage a division lab strategy to enable new research capabilities.
- Enhance customer engagement and relationships around mission-critical technical areas.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 12 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 10 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience in Defensive Cyber, Cyber Resiliency, Offensive Cyber, and cyber capability development.
- Recognized expert in at least one cyber domain area.
- Knowledge in Cyber Warfighting, Agile Software Development, Technical Intelligence, and systems engineering.
- Strong understanding of cyber efforts in the Department of Air Force and established customer relationships.
