QTS is seeking a Distinguished Network Engineer who will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure. This position is essential for providing large scale, enterprise-wide network engineering support and will involve leading the strategy and implementation of technologies across the company, not limited to network-related initiatives. The Distinguished Network Engineer will support the CTO, VP of Strategic Technology Initiatives, and VP of Technology Engineering & Operations, representing the CTO organization at the enterprise level. This role requires frequent and detailed technical advice to the Network Engineering organization and the Operations Support Center (OSC). The engineer will also lead follow-ups on Root Cause Analysis (RFO) to assist with customer support and maintain awareness of technical shortcomings that need to be addressed. In addition to providing network Subject Matter Expert (SME) support for sales teams, including remote and in-person meetings with prospects and customers, the Distinguished Network Engineer will assist product development with network product designs and specifications. The role involves ensuring that QTS stays ahead of capacity, security, and vendor End of Service/End of Life (EOS/EOL) concerns. Responsibilities include designing and implementing network infrastructure, installing and configuring network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls to ensure optimal network performance, and owning the monitoring of network performance. The engineer will address both hardware and software problems to minimize network downtime and collaborate with IT professionals to implement security protocols to protect the network from threats. Regular network maintenance, including updating software and hardware to maintain network integrity, is also a key responsibility. The engineer will document network configurations and maintain detailed records of network processes and procedures for transparency and continuity. Additionally, providing support and training, mentoring the network engineering team to build a culture of excellence, and staying up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices are essential aspects of this role.
