About the position

The Distributed Computer Systems Administrator position within the Department of Juvenile Justice serves as the Regional IT Manager for the Northeast Region. The role involves managing a team of technical staff responsible for maintaining and supporting a client-server environment with web-based applications. The incumbent will oversee infrastructure composed of the latest technologies, ensuring effective IT support across multiple counties.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise seven staff providing desktop and infrastructure support across six counties.
  • Manage file server configuration and administration, including Active Directory and virus protection.
  • Establish and remove network accounts as needed.
  • Perform customer data backups and software installations/updates.
  • Set up and maintain local training rooms.
  • Resolve work orders and follow up on issues.
  • Monitor network (LAN/WAN) performance.
  • Set up new or replacement equipment and troubleshoot existing equipment.
  • Research equipment/software for Information Resource Requests (IRR).
  • Maintain equipment inventory and provide customer interaction training on software/hardware.
  • Ensure staff maintain technical proficiency and conduct performance measurement and data reporting.
  • Plan and report on regional projects and manage resources effectively.
  • Coordinate customer management and ensure regional quality assurance.
  • Conduct meetings and site visits with staff and customers.
  • Implement safeguards for computer files and verify data backups of servers.
  • Discuss issues with customers regarding data access, security, and technology needs.
  • Grant and remove access privileges as directed by supervisors and IT management.
  • Identify infrastructure equipment upgrade and replacement needs.
  • Monitor technology performance and report issues to IT management.
  • Maintain and implement the IT plan of action for incident or disaster response.
  • Follow up with customers on IT service satisfaction and generate management reports.
  • Review regional processes for adherence to standards and report findings.

Requirements

  • Experience supervising or managing information technology support staff.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server 2016-2019 installation, operations, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Windows 10 desktop/laptop/mobile device/server/network hardware troubleshooting and repair.
  • Knowledge of WAN/LAN equipment installation, operations, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in data backup and recovery processes.
  • Utilization of Microsoft Office 365 for various tasks.
  • Strong customer support and interaction skills.
  • Project planning and reporting experience.
  • Asset management and reporting capabilities.
  • Performance measurement and quality assurance experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with .NET technologies.
