About the position

Glumac, A Tetra Tech Company, is seeking an Electrical Engineer with Distributed Energy Resources project experience to join our world-class Electrical Team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a global leader in building engineering committed to combatting climate change through decarbonization, electrification, and resilient design. The ideal candidate will be a team player with extensive experience in providing design and implementation for various renewable energy sources, including but not limited to photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind energy, fuel cells, battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for consulting with clients on next-generation technologies and integrating them into projects. You will work closely with our Building Science group to expand Glumac's portfolio of Distributed Energy projects. The successful candidate will assist in the design and technical analysis for battery energy storage, distributed energy resources (DERs), and microgrid design. Additionally, you will collaborate with our Energy team to understand the effects of renewable energy on power systems. Your responsibilities will include providing designs for relaying/metering, switchgear design, and specifications of the system, as well as planning electrical power systems for various projects, including industrial and manufacturing facilities, campuses, hospitals, laboratories, high-rise offices, educational facilities, and other commercial and institutional projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design and implementation for renewable energy sources including PV, wind, fuel cells, battery storage, and EV charging.
  • Consult with clients on next-generation technologies and integrate them into projects.
  • Assist in the design and technical analysis for battery energy storage and distributed energy resources (DERs).
  • Collaborate with the Building Science group to expand the portfolio of Distributed Energy projects.
  • Work with the Energy team to understand the effects of renewable energy on power systems.
  • Design relaying/metering, switchgear, and specifications for electrical systems.
  • Plan electrical power systems for various types of projects including industrial, commercial, and institutional.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience with technical lead and design experience.
  • Experience in electrical utility resilience planning and long-term master planning.
  • Project design experience with at least two of the following: Commercial Photovoltaic (PV) solar design, On-shore Wind turbine, Clean Fuel Cell (Hydrogen, Natural Gas, Biogas), Clean Linear Generators (Non-Diesel), Large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems, Large-scale Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure, Microgrids utilizing relays and advanced control logic.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Current Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
  • Knowledge of codes, standards, and financial incentives for alternative energy systems, especially related to DER integration with the utility.
  • Knowledge in REVIT and familiarity with microgrid/DER analysis or control software.
  • Experience with short circuit/coordination/arc flash software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with designing Medium Voltage (2.4kV to 35 kV distribution) is a plus.
  • Knowledge in AutoCAD is a plus.
