About the position
The Distribution Associate II at Johns Hopkins Health System is responsible for performing various duties related to shipping and receiving under general supervision. This role involves maintaining a clean and safe work environment while ensuring the accuracy of warehouse deliveries and managing inventory effectively. Responsibilities
- Perform receiving and picking duties including verifying accuracy of warehouse deliveries by comparing to purchase orders.
- Inspect items for damage or defects.
- Complete appropriate paperwork and enter information into the department computer system.
- Unload and unpack items from delivery vehicles.
- Fill pick-list requests for warehouse items.
- Prepare and pack items for transport to various sites.
- Operate motorized and manual material handling equipment including fork lifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks.
- Meet established picking and receiving expectations in accordance with standards of operation.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a G.E.D. Certificate required.
- Three years of relevant work experience in warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or similar work environments.
- Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, inventory stocking, and distribution.
- Knowledge of principles for receiving, storage, picking, staging, and shipping material.
- Excellent communication skills in dealing with other employees and vendors.
- Basic computer and typing skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to take direction and follow institutional guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to work autonomously and be flexible to meet schedule needs.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience operating data processing equipment including PCs, bar code scanners, and voice picking systems.
- Ability to work as a committed team member in a positive and collaborative manner.
