About the position

As a Material Handler at Kelly Services, you will play a crucial role in the efficient handling and movement of materials related to production in a busy electronic manufacturing environment. This position requires attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting. You will be responsible for various tasks including system transactions, inventory management, and ensuring the safe loading and unloading of materials.

Responsibilities

  • Handling material related to production, including performing system transactions and routing incoming material to appropriate warehouse locations.
  • Identifying and addressing damaged or discrepant material receipts.
  • Loading and unloading materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
  • Counting, weighing, and recording the number of units of material moved or handled.
  • Attaching tags, labels, or placards to materials and ensuring accurate identification.
  • Moving material to designated warehouse locations following system-generated process routers.
  • Replenishing production processes to meet build schedules.
  • Kit material based on system-generated pick lists.
  • Unloading equipment feeders for the production process as required.
  • Filling backfills/shortages if parts arrive on a delay and delivering them to kit audit or production if critical.
  • Filling part requisitions from production.
  • Performing cycle counts and maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Conducting research and root cause analysis on inventory inaccuracies.
  • Loading material into vehicles and ensuring proper strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or breakage.
  • Assisting the Inventory Control Supervisor in location and part count verification for inventory control.
  • Supporting company physical inventory processes.
  • Maintaining contact with the Stockroom team and collaborating on duties as required.
  • Providing backup support to Shipping and Receiving.
  • Safely using and performing preventative maintenance on all power handling equipment.
  • Understanding and following all applicable ISO and job-specific procedures.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the work area and surrounding workspace.
  • Maintaining the accuracy of work-in-process.
  • Training and monitoring other employees as needed.
  • Performing any other responsibilities as directed and necessary for the business.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2-3 years of previous experience in material handling and shipping.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to operate power handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Basic computer skills for performing system transactions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Previous experience with shipping systems and documents such as Bill of Lading (BOL).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a collaborative team environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO procedures.
