About the position
The Distribution Center Assistant General Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational functions within a large distribution center, ensuring it operates efficiently and effectively. This role involves supervising a team of DC Operations Managers across various departments, collaborating with the General Manager to develop strategies that maximize productivity and minimize costs. The Assistant General Manager plays a crucial role in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring safety and operational excellence throughout the facility.
Responsibilities
- Assist General Managers in evaluating work methods, procedures, and staffing to ensure timely product movement and processing.
- Provide recommendations to improve financial, operational, and service-related objectives for continuous improvement.
- Lead operational excellence in warehouse areas, ensuring efficient inventory management and proper layout.
- Coach, train, and develop the management team through informal and formal training programs.
- Ensure a culture of safety by monitoring safety policies and operational metrics.
Requirements
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a related field.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Business, or Supply Chain.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Previous change management experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and be on-call.
