About the position

The DC Assistant General Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational functions within a large distribution center, ensuring it is an efficient and positive workplace. This role involves supervising a team of DC Operations Managers across various operational areas, collaborating with the General Manager to develop strategies that maximize productivity and manage expenses effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist General Managers in evaluating work methods, procedures, and staffing to ensure timely product movement and processing.
  • Provide recommendations to improve financial, operational, and service-related objectives for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure operational excellence in warehouse areas, including efficient management of warehouse systems and inventory processing.
  • Coach, train, and develop the management team through informal and formal training programs, maintaining a union-free environment.
  • Promote a culture of safety by adhering to safety policies and monitoring safety metrics.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, concentrating in Operations Management, Business, or Supply Chain.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • No prior experience required, but previous change management experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and be on-call at various times.
