About the position
The Distribution Center Clerk at Academy Sports + Outdoors plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and safe shipment of goods to and from customers. This position involves a variety of clerical and organizational tasks that support the distribution center's operations, contributing to customer service, associate engagement, and profitability goals. The clerk is expected to maintain a safe and clean work environment while adhering to safety procedures and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Provides clerical, organizational, and office support to the distribution center.
- Handles requests from vendors, corporate office, and DC team members.
- Performs entry of data electronically, including daily reporting of material movement and purge requests.
- Assists DC team members with inventory tracking and updating.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and work stations organized.
- Wears the proper safety equipment and performs other general warehouse duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in a relevant field preferred.
- At least one year of related work experience.
- Intermediate experience in MS Office, particularly Excel, and other warehouse software.
- Effective listening, speaking, and writing communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions.
