About the position
Feeding Westchester is seeking a dependable and mission-driven Distribution Center Driver to facilitate the pick-up and delivery of food and products across Westchester County. This role is crucial in ensuring timely and safe transportation of food to various agencies, maintaining strong relationships with donors and clients, and supporting the organization's mission to combat hunger in the community.
Responsibilities
- Pick-up and delivery of food and products to member agency sites or local donors within Westchester County.
- Load and unload trucks safely and promptly at various locations.
- Operate vehicles and equipment necessary for deliveries, including box trucks and vans.
- Maintain rapport with donors to foster continued support and professional relationships.
- Inspect product donations to ensure safety and sanitation standards are met.
- Maintain daily trip and equipment logs to ensure vehicle safety and sanitation.
- Assist in maintaining an orderly and sanitary warehouse environment.
- Perform maintenance checks on vehicles and report conditions to the Distribution Logistics Supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three years of related experience in a warehouse, retail, wholesale, or food service setting.
- Valid NYS driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Forklift certification and heavy equipment operation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in the latest software and technology.
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
