About the position

The Distribution Center Operations Manager at American Tire Distributors is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the distribution center, focusing on both warehouse and transportation management. This role involves managing staff, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet operational goals. The manager will work closely with the Distribution Center General Manager to achieve targets related to safety, delivery accuracy, and cost efficiency while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and manage the day-to-day activities for warehouse associates and/or delivery associates assigned to different shifts.
  • Conduct onboarding and training for employees; coach, motivate, and evaluate employees; investigate complaints or performance concerns; implement disciplinary action as needed.
  • Maintain staff by selecting, recruiting, training, and mentoring employees for development growth.
  • Perform daily huddles to ensure employees understand work tasks expectations and deliverables, creating engagement and building the iCare culture.
  • Plan and lead all assigned warehouse activities to ensure accurate delivery of daily production goals.
  • Manage warehouse associates, organizing labor for loading/unloading delivery trucks, operating forklifts, and inventory control.
  • Supervise and record the receipt, storage, and distribution of equipment and supplies in a centralized warehouse operation.
  • Champion safe working conditions and monitor employees to ensure safe operation of equipment within the distribution center.
  • Plan and lead transportation activities to ensure accurate and efficient delivery and operation of company vehicles.
  • Review and implement work methods and procedures to increase productivity and achieve effective routing.
  • Ensure compliance with pre-trip vehicle inspections and standard procedures for delivery operations.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of previous supervisory experience (direct supervision of employees).
  • Experience in the receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies or equipment is preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited university is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a continuous improvement based environment is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with current materials, methods, tools, and equipment used in distribution operations.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and prepare various reporting via Excel and other similar tools.
