About the position
The Distribution Center Shipping Clerk is responsible for managing shipping operations within the distribution center, ensuring efficient processing of shipping orders and compliance with regulations. This role involves preparing shipping documents, consolidating orders, and communicating with transportation providers to facilitate outbound shipments while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and organizes paper picking documents.
- Consolidates shipping orders going to the same location to maximize efficiencies and transportation savings.
- Scans and communicates shipping documents to outside service providers.
- Provides documentation for customs for cross border shipments, including the assignment of harmonized tariff codes.
- Interacts with transportation service providers to schedule outbound shipments.
- Communicates with inside sales and distribution center associates to resolve issues with shipments.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and productive work environment in compliance with OSHA and company directives.
- Operates forklift and/or other material handling equipment as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and/or GED
- 1+ years of distribution center or logistics experience
- Experience using ERP system(s) and Microsoft Office
- Highly motivated, self-driven individual with the ability to work without daily guidance
- Strong math skills and attention to detail
- Interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous experience using SAP or SAP BI
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to collaborate in a team-based environment, providing excellent customer service to employees and all stakeholders.
