About the position

The Distribution Center Supervisor at Walgreens is responsible for overseeing and coordinating activities within a designated functional area of the distribution center. This role involves monitoring daily productivity and output through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring compliance with safety programs, and maintaining the integrity of inventory and merchandise movement. The supervisor will mentor team members, manage performance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, particularly through LEAN initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a group of Team Members in a designated functional area in the Distribution Center.
  • Monitors team members' productivity and work quality, managing performance using available tools.
  • Mentors team members through on-the-job training and collaborates with DC Trainer for new team member orientation.
  • Conducts 15-minute Observe, Coach, and Recognize (OCR) sessions as necessary.
  • Recommends and assists in the development of training curricula.
  • Conducts Management by Walking Around (MBWA) to ensure team member safety and address concerns.
  • Establishes and cultivates morale and engagement of team members.
  • Encourages team member participation in workplace activities and events.
  • Establishes positive communication channels between cross-functional teams.
  • Enters daily performance forecast into the DC productivity/efficiency report.
  • Utilizes and updates system computer applications for proper operation and reporting.
  • Leverages performance management and KPI reports to manage daily DC functional area performance.
  • Ensures compliance with Centers of Excellence SOP's for applicable functional areas.
  • Advocates for continuous improvement culture, particularly LEAN initiatives.
  • Measures performance compliance and directs appropriate actions by team members and equipment.
  • Maintains required records for team members, equipment, and KPIs.
  • Participates in administrative activities, including defining resource needs and managing staffing.
  • Assists in managing daily staffing needs for designated department.
  • Participates in team member concerns, including reporting and disciplinary processes.
  • Promotes a safe environment and complies with safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year experience in collaborating/leading team projects OR High School/GED and at least 4 years' experience in collaborating/leading team projects OR High School/GED and United States Armed Forces or equivalent experience demonstrating leadership skills.
  • At least 1 year of experience assisting management with work assignments and responsibilities.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness to work any shift.
  • Experience in identifying operational issues and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships within a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year experience working in a distribution center/production environment.
  • Experience in indirect management of team members, including coaching and mentoring.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Experience using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience working with SPC tracking, AS400, Sort View, or ISS.
  • Experience in distribution, warehousing, or logistics.
  • Experience analyzing operational reports.
  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing or logistics environment.
