About the position

The Distribution Center Warehouse Associate/Back-up Delivery Driver at Hörmann North America is responsible for receiving products, loading and unloading trucks, and making deliveries as needed. This role combines warehouse duties with driving responsibilities, ensuring efficient operations within the distribution center while providing excellent customer service during deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, and checking in material.
  • Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped.
  • Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
  • Load trucks in a safe and orderly manner to ensure that products arrive at customer's location in good condition.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for employees, sales staff, and customer traffic.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or relocate orders to a holding area or shipping area.
  • Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
  • Assist in counting of physical inventory.
  • Sweep, dust, and mop to maintain cleanliness.
  • Organize work area for orderliness at all times.
  • Wear the proper safety equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspection of the truck and inform supervisor of any problems or maintenance issues.
  • Operate truck in a safe manner by obeying speed limits and traffic laws.
  • Unload product at customer destination, requiring heavy lifting.
  • Handle and/or process related paperwork as required.
  • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
  • Develop and maintain good rapport with customers.
  • Assist with loading delivery vehicles and maintain inventory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be capable of obtaining certification to operate power equipment.
  • Must have a valid DOT physical card and a valid Class C driver's license.
  • Must have a clean, professional appearance.
  • Must have a thorough grasp on the DOT rules and regulations regarding driving hours of service.
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and background check.
  • No DUI or License suspensions in the last 5 years.
  • Must be a self-managing employee.
  • Capable of driving for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat to perform loading/unloading assignment(s).
  • Must be able to read and interpret, in English, job related documents and possess good to excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to identify products by way of work related documents such as pick lists, work orders, shipping documents, etc.
  • Must be able to maintain focus of tasks at hand with high level of attention to detail.
  • Must be able to follow an established routine and able to interact in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish or German is preferred but not mandatory.
