About the position

The Distribution Cleaner at Dollar Tree is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the distribution center. This role involves performing heavy cleaning duties, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and working collaboratively with other associates and supervisors. The position is essential for creating a safe and clean working environment in a fast-paced, automated distribution center.

Responsibilities

• Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
• Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Dusts and washes furniture, walls, machines, ceilings, equipment, and other surfaces using ladders or powered equipment.
• Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks.
• Removes stains from surfaces using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• Removes debris and empties trash and cardboard containers.
• Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures.
• Cleans interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaners and tools.
• Sprays insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.
• Keeps supply closet neat and orderly and maintains equipment in good working order.
• Requisitions supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Monitors building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours.
• Operates floor scrubbing equipment, cardboard baler, and maintains all stations containing janitorial equipment.
• Identifies and corrects unsafe working conditions with management oversight.
• Attends training programs as designated and complies with all company safety policies.
• Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
• Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to work at heights and in tight environments.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to be on feet most of the day and walk several miles each day.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
