About the position

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Drafter for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in our Houston, Texas office. This position will involve working closely with electrical engineers and designers to develop utility construction packages from conception through construction. The ideal candidate should be able to collaborate effectively within design teams, demonstrate self-motivation in performing assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn new skills. The role requires the ability to learn new software packages efficiently and to retain and apply on-the-job training effectively. The Distribution Drafter will be responsible for creating detailed drawings and plans that meet the specifications of utility projects. This includes understanding and applying the principles of computer-aided design (CAD) software, particularly AutoCAD and MicroStation. The candidate will also need to ensure that all designs comply with relevant codes and standards. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, as the role will involve coordinating with various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Some travel may be required as part of the job responsibilities, and the candidate must be able to successfully pass the client's background screening process and possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in an accredited program or equivalent experience in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Strong understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) software, particularly AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Ability to successfully pass client's background screening process.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
