About the position

The Distribution Engineer will be responsible for developing design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for electric utility customers. The role involves reviewing client-provided work, conducting field work as needed, performing energy analysis, and creating designs using Open Utilities. The engineer will also build a Bill of Materials (BOM) for SAP/Material Tracking Software and assist with necessary permits for utility lines. Frequent communication with clients is essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems.
• Review client-provided work and assess requirements of the scopes.
• Conduct field work including taking photos and measurements of specific sites.
• Perform energy analysis to ensure materials meet site usage requirements.
• Create designs using Open Utilities and build a Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Assist with permits for utility lines crossing roads, easements, and private property.
• Submit electrical construction packages for approval and make necessary revisions.

Requirements

• Electrical Engineering Degree or entry-level design degree with an associate's in design.
• Experience with design software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, Catia, MicroStation).
• Knowledge of Open Utilities.
• Experience in energy analysis.
• Familiarity with SAP/Material Tracking Software.
• Experience in permit acquisition.
• Knowledge of PoleForman or PLA/Pole Loading Analysis.
• Understanding of National Electric Safety Codes (NESC).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with structural analysis of wood poles.
• Familiarity with hybrid work environments.
