About the position

The Distribution Operations Manager at Gordon Food Service is responsible for overseeing the distribution operations at the assigned facilities, ensuring a productive work environment and effective management of warehouse staff. This role involves strategic planning, performance management, and collaboration with various departments to enhance customer service and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the distribution operations function at assigned facilities.
• Assess development potential of staff and provide training and mentorship.
• Collaborate with department supervisors to identify and develop future warehouse leaders.
• Ensure GFS Culture and Climate are integrated into strategic planning.
• Create an environment that encourages teamwork and achievement.
• Conduct interviews, hiring, training, and retention of Distribution Center staff.
• Monitor staff performance and initiate disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Develop creative plans for improving customer service, safety, and employee morale.
• Audit building maintenance records and ensure proper upkeep of equipment and facilities.
• Collaborate with transportation department on route placement plans.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of previous experience in a management role, with 2-3 years in a senior role.
• Bachelor's Degree in Management, Logistics, Production Systems, or related field preferred.
• Strong strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational skills.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to motivate staff.
