About the position
Under broad supervision, provide advanced-level technical support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic. Performs welding, construction, repairs, preventive maintenance and inspections of physical structures, plumbing fixtures/hardware, and electrical devices at assigned facilities. May supervise the activities of non-permanent staff.

- Perform welding, construction, repairs, preventive maintenance and inspections of physical structures, plumbing fixtures/hardware, and electrical devices at assigned facilities.
- Supervise the activities of non-permanent staff as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience at a position equivalent.
- Knowledge of appropriate procedures and equipment to enhance work process efficiency.
- Ability to read and understand plans, standards, specifications and building codes.
- Ability to measure, calculate appropriate quantities and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to receive and respond to verbal instructions and express ideas clearly through oral and written communications.
- Ability to make well-informed decisions using sound judgment.
- High level of commitment toward work and ethical conduct.
- Commitment to providing quality customer service.
Nice-to-haves
- Successful completion of a post-secondary vocational/technical school program in a skilled trade (e.g., electrical, carpentry, plumbing).
- Two years of experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment.
- Ability to train others and act as a mentor for less experienced team members.
- Demonstrated experience working independently or as part of a team.

- 10% increase upon promotion or the GDOT job specific minimum salary, whichever is greater.
