About the position

The District Facility Manager at Del Valle ISD is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, managing, and supervising the use of facilities, custodial services, and safety/security services. This role is crucial in ensuring that the physical learning environment for students, community groups, and third-party users is safe, clean, attractive, and functional. The manager will oversee the management and preventative maintenance of all facilities within the district, ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal regulations. The position requires a strong focus on event coordination, community partnerships, and the ability to manage budgets effectively using zero-based budgeting and cost-benefit analysis. In addition to managing custodial and security operations, the Facility Manager will develop and maintain written departmental procedures for maintenance, repair, and operations of district facilities and equipment. This includes preparing plans and specifications for contracted repair work, securing vendors and bids, and monitoring repairs to ensure compliance with district guidelines. The manager will also compile and maintain all necessary reports and records related to maintenance operations, providing summary reports as requested. The role requires strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as the Facility Manager will act as a liaison between various stakeholders, including facility use applicants, campus personnel, and custodial staff. The manager will also be responsible for evaluating job performance, recommending training and professional development for maintenance staff, and ensuring that all personnel adhere to district policies and standards. Overall, the District Facility Manager plays a vital role in promoting leadership and organizational improvement within the school district, ensuring that facilities are maintained to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, manage, and supervise facility use and custodial services.
  • Act as the main point of contact for outside group facility rentals and ensure compliance with district requirements.
  • Maintain detailed records of facility rental applicants for future reference and audit purposes.
  • Assist with the management of custodial and security operations of the district.
  • Develop and implement building policies and procedures related to facility use.
  • Prepare and implement recommendations for process improvement and cost savings.
  • Receive, assign, and verify status of work orders for repair and maintenance of facilities.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports required in the maintenance area.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of supervisors and staff in the Maintenance Department.
  • Direct training and ongoing professional development of workers to improve work performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in facilities management, administration, or five years of relevant experience.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Experience managing multiple work teams and projects.
  • Ability to manage budget utilizing zero-based budgeting and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of construction, school maintenance, and custodial operations.
