About the position

Gallo Wine Sales of New Jersey is seeking a District Manager to oversee the sales operations in Monmouth and Ocean County, New Jersey. This role is pivotal in managing a team of 5-8 sales representatives, ensuring that they are well-trained, motivated, and equipped to meet their sales targets. The District Manager will be responsible for the training, evaluation, and development of both new and experienced sales representatives. This includes utilizing various training tools such as sales training modules and conducting field ride-alongs to provide hands-on guidance and support. In addition to training, the District Manager will play a crucial role in assessing the performance of sales representatives through timely performance evaluations. Weekly team sales meetings will be led by the District Manager to review territory performance and overall sales results, fostering a collaborative environment focused on achieving sales objectives. The District Manager will also be accountable for executing the sales team's monthly plans, which encompass account purchasing, distribution points, shelf placement, cold box management, display strategies, and revenue objectives. Goal setting at both the territory and account levels is a key responsibility, ensuring that the team meets its case and revenue objectives. The District Manager will present monthly programs and provide brand direction during General Sales Meetings, while also developing and managing incentive programs to motivate the sales team. Furthermore, the role involves training and managing the execution of the distributor suggested pricing plan for Gallo distributor brands, ensuring compliance and effectiveness in pricing strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise 5-8 sales representatives and manage floating merchandiser work.
  • Train, evaluate, and develop new and experienced sales representatives using various training tools.
  • Support sales representatives with advice on customer orders and ensure resolution of issues.
  • Assess performance of sales representatives through timely performance assessments.
  • Lead weekly team sales meetings to review territory performance and overall sales results.
  • Accountable for executing the sales team's monthly plans, including account purchasing and revenue objectives.
  • Set goals at the territory and account level to meet case and revenue objectives.
  • Present monthly programs and provide brand direction via General Sales Meetings.
  • Develop and manage incentive program execution at the district levels.
  • Train and manage the execution of the distributor suggested pricing plan for Gallo distributor brands.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 5 years of professional sales experience, including at least one year of Gallo wholesaler or affiliated distributor experience; OR Bachelor's degree plus 18 months of professional sales experience with a Gallo wholesaler or affiliated distributor.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license, safe driving record, and reliable vehicle required at the time of hire.
  • Ability to lift or move 45 - 57 pound cases of product.
  • Willingness to work weekends for special functions/events when needed.
