About the position

The District Operations Manager at Univar Solutions is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, legal, and economical operation of all branches within the assigned district. This role involves overseeing transportation, warehouse, and tank farm operations while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies. The manager will lead operations personnel, manage budgets, and implement process improvements across the district, all while fostering a positive work environment and supporting sales efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates compliance with corporate health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Supports sales efforts consistent with corporate and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Manages district health and safety program and conducts safety audits.
  • Ensures comprehensive incident investigations are conducted in a timely manner.
  • Regularly communicates District performance and trends to leadership.
  • Leads all operations personnel assigned to the District.
  • Manages salary plan, personnel development, hiring, promoting, and termination of employees.
  • Evaluates skill gaps and partners with Human Resources on development programs.
  • Conveys performance expectations to departments and teams.
  • Oversees compliance with training requirements for district staff.
  • Mentors subordinate leaders in personnel management.
  • Develops budget and operating plans for all branches in the District.
  • Oversees budget and monitors achievement of branch goals.
  • Participates in District Business Meetings and presents District Reviews to Leadership.
  • Ensures cooperation between Operations and Commercial teams.
  • Implements initiatives to improve operations across the District.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Engineering or Chemistry.
  • HazMat certified, Hazwoper Certified, CVI.
  • 7+ years' experience in operational leadership.
  • Strong supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of chemical distribution facility operation preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in coaching and team building.
  • High level of decision-making ability balancing customer needs and company objectives.
  • Strong organization skills to handle diverse workloads.
  • Recognized leadership abilities by peers and subordinates.
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical distribution facility operation.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations affecting facilities.
