About the position

The Personal Banker - Bilingual position at Midland States Bank is focused on delivering exceptional customer service to a diverse clientele. This role requires effective communication skills and advanced knowledge of consumer and business banking products. The Personal Banker is responsible for identifying referral opportunities, maintaining customer relationships, and driving sales through service and product knowledge, with a specific emphasis on bilingual communication in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to diverse clientele.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities for consumer and business products.
  • Maintain and deepen existing customer relationships.
  • Participate in community groups or events for networking opportunities.
  • Determine consumer needs through needs-based questioning.
  • Drive personal and team sales to achieve goals.
  • Track and monitor sales, referrals, and opportunities in customer information software.
  • Recommend personal and business products to match customer needs.
  • Promote the Perks at Work Program & Merchant Services programs during onsite visits.
  • Profile and refer customers to banking partners based on internal training.
  • Conduct outbound teleconsulting to expand client relationships.
  • Assist with directives assigned by the Banking Center Manager.
  • Run a teller drawer as needed and process customer transactions accurately.
  • Participate in bank-sponsored community activities.
  • Train and mentor new hires on the banker system.
  • Complete all assigned learning activities in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in weekly huddles and coaching sessions.
  • Serve as relief and/or backup Personal Banker in other locations.
  • Model Midland States Bank core values and culture.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in banking or customer service.
  • Broad knowledge of bank systems, consumer loans, and deposit accounts.
  • Cash handling experience and proven sales experience.
  • National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration required.
