About the position

The Universal Banker Trainee position at Midland States Bank is designed for individuals who are eager to deliver exceptional customer service while gaining knowledge in banking products and services. This role involves training to effectively assist customers with their banking needs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to the bank's community initiatives. Trainees will work under the guidance of senior employees until they demonstrate the ability to meet performance goals and provide excellent customer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer experiences to current and potential customers.
• Exhibit effective communication skills and knowledge of banking products and services.
• Offer referral opportunities to enhance customer service outcomes.
• Receive cash and checks for deposit, verifying amounts and endorsements.
• Examine cash to guard against counterfeit bills.
• Cash checks for customers in accordance with bank policy and issue receipts.
• Balance cash drawer throughout the day to minimize discrepancies.
• Assist with basic deposit account openings and maintenance requests under supervision.
• Develop sales and product knowledge to achieve personal and team goals.
• Participate in onsite visits to promote Employee Perks at Work Program & Merchant Services.
• Engage in outbound teleconsulting to expand client relationships.
• Participate in weekly huddles and one-on-one coaching sessions.
• Serve as relief and/or backup teller in other locations as needed.
• Complete all assigned learning activities in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate and model the bank's core values and culture.
• Participate in bank-sponsored community activities and initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Sales and customer service background.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and transport coin and currency bags weighing between 25lbs and 50lbs.
