About the position

The District Sales Manager is responsible for leading a team of sales professionals in the Charlottesville area, focusing on strategic sales growth, profitability, and account management. This role emphasizes attracting, developing, and retaining top sales talent while ensuring that the district's performance aligns with the company's overall objectives. The District Sales Manager acts as a leader and ambassador for the company's culture, guiding the sales team to achieve exceptional results and maintain strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and educate sales staff on product knowledge, sales techniques, and company policies.
  • Ensure that sales staff develops strategic decision-making skills, understanding the impact of their decisions on the broader business.
  • Attain established sales targets with a thoughtful NLP business focus, ensuring a continuous pipeline of quality prospect accounts.
  • Operate department and assigned personnel within budgetary guidelines.
  • Develop interpersonal relationships that encourage openness, candor, and trust, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate awareness of customer needs and establish policies and practices to effectively meet those needs.
  • Provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public, customers, vendors, and PFG associates.
  • Remain current by participating in industry and organization meetings and attending industry shows and events.
  • Develop and present major account presentations and analyze information on competition.
  • Ensure professional communications with customers and address customer issues and concerns in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 4+ years experience as team lead or supervisor in foodservice sales.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales & Marketing or related field
  • 6+ years experience as supervisor or manager in foodservice distribution sales
  • Leadership experience in broadline foodservice sales.
