About the position

The District Sales Manager oversees a team of Territory Managers in selling US Foods' products and services. This role involves coaching, mentoring, and training TMs to achieve sales objectives, while also engaging in direct sales activities. The manager is responsible for developing sales strategies, managing budgets, and ensuring effective communication within the sales department to drive revenue growth and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a group of Territory Managers (TMs) in selling the Company's products and services.
  • Direct TMs towards opportunities in closing and acquiring new accounts.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to TMs to achieve sales objectives.
  • Lead TMs to achieve Division sales and penetration objectives.
  • Submit and administer annual street sales operating plan and budget.
  • Assist TMs in warming leads and closing sales.
  • Coordinate product cuttings and demonstrations for customers.
  • Develop sales and marketing strategies and proposals for customers.
  • Communicate sales data to contribute to product/service planning.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor new hires and existing TMs.
  • Oversee and assess TM performance regularly, instituting performance improvement measures as needed.
  • Research and develop lists of potential customers and conduct targeted sales calls.
  • Assist in customer/delivery alignment and driver engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales & Marketing or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • A minimum of five years of foodservice sales experience required.
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as customer service and presentation abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills, preferably in Microsoft Office products.
