About the position

The District Sales Manager oversees a team of Territory Managers in the selling of US Foods' products and services. This role focuses on driving revenue generation through effective coaching, mentoring, and training of the team, while also managing account acquisition and development within a specified district. The position requires strategic planning to achieve sales objectives and involves collaboration with various departments to enhance customer engagement and service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a group of Territory Managers (TMs) in selling the Company's products and services.
  • Direct TMs in closing opportunities and acquiring new accounts.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to TMs to achieve sales objectives.
  • Lead TMs to achieve Division sales and penetration objectives.
  • Research and develop long and short-range sales plans.
  • Assist TMs in warming leads and closing sales.
  • Submit and administer annual street sales operating plan and budget.
  • Leverage Sales Coordinator role to reduce administrative tasks.
  • Assist in coordinating product cuttings and demonstrations.
  • Develop sales and marketing strategies for customers.
  • Communicate sales data for product/service planning.
  • Plan district sales meetings and events with Marketing and Merchandising personnel.
  • Utilize Sales Foundations tools to grow sales and maintain customer service standards.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor new hires and existing TMs.
  • Oversee and assess TM performance regularly.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and product developments.
  • Research potential customers and conduct targeted sales calls.
  • Assist in customer/delivery alignment and driver engagement.
  • Ensure communication and execution of Company policies within the sales department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales & Marketing or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • A minimum of five years of foodservice sales experience required.
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as customer service and presentation abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills, preferably in Microsoft Office products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in foodservice distribution or related industry.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce and technology solutions in foodservice.
