About the position

The District Sales Manager (DSM) is responsible for managing the sales performance of Sales Consultants (SCs) within a designated district. This role focuses on driving a performance culture, coaching, and developing the talent of sales consultants to achieve profitable growth in case and gross profit (GP). The DSM will engage in one-on-one coaching, lead district meetings, and support customer engagement efforts to enhance service delivery and sales effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the performance and development of Sales Consultants (SCs) within the district.
  • Conduct an average of 3-5 work-withs per week for one-on-one coaching and direction.
  • Lead and facilitate Friday district meetings to educate and inspire sales consultants.
  • Direct Customer Engagement efforts to provide expanded service channel options to Sysco customers.
  • Leverage Sales Support resources and tools to maximize consultative time of SCs.
  • Utilize CRM for managing SC's sales planning, prospecting, and daily customer engagement.
  • Deliver Sysco brand results and manage conversion opportunities within the district.
  • Support and promote all national campaigns and promotions.
  • Provide coaching, training, and timely feedback to drive sales consultant development.
  • Execute territory planning and management, prioritizing relationships with top customers and high-value prospects.
  • Champion company initiatives and implement center-led strategy within the district.
  • Perform additional sales management responsibilities including operational duties and customer relationship management.

Requirements

  • High School education required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2 or more years' experience successfully growing profitable sales in the foodservice industry.
  • 5+ years' foodservice sales experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with various stakeholders.
  • Superb organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficiency in using Sysco's proprietary CRM tool for planning and forecasting sales growth.
  • Mastery of consultative selling, marketing principles, prospecting, networking, coaching, and negotiations.
  • Ability to effectively coach, counsel, train, and direct associates.
