About the position

The District Sales Manager (DSM) at Shingle & Gibb is responsible for driving sales within a defined geographic area by engaging with customers to address their industrial automation needs. This role involves building strong relationships with both customers and suppliers, promoting the company's core values, and utilizing technology to enhance sales efforts. The DSM will work both in the office and in the field, requiring a balance of customer interaction and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with a defined group of customers to generate sales of the company's products.
  • Build strong partnerships with current and prospective clients.
  • Promote and showcase the company's core values, vision, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate expertise in industrial automation technologies and solutions.
  • Participate in sales forecasting activities and pursue performance goals.
  • Utilize the company's CRM platform to record activities and opportunities.
  • Generate and pursue leads through various methods including cold-calling and referrals.
  • Create and follow up on customer quotations in coordination with the Customer Service Team.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and their representatives.
  • Schedule and document joint sales calls with suppliers.
  • Attend training events held by suppliers to enhance product knowledge.
  • Coordinate customer training on suppliers' products and perform product demonstrations.
  • Participate in events, promotions, and client entertainment as required.
  • Attend Sales Team Meetings as required by management.
  • Manage expenses and submit accurate expense reports in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Trade School Certificate in an engineering or technical discipline is preferred.
  • 3 years of Outside Sales experience is required; 5 years is preferred.
  • 3 years of relevant automation industry experience is preferred.
  • Results driven with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer/client focus and problem-solving abilities.
  • Goal-oriented with the ability to self-start or work as part of a team.
  • Technology fluent in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
