About the position

The District Sales Manager (DSM) is responsible for managing sales performance among Sales Consultants (SCs) within the district. This role focuses on driving a performance culture, coaching, and developing the talent of sales consultants to achieve profitable growth in case and gross profit (GP). The DSM engages in direct coaching, leads district meetings, and implements company initiatives to enhance customer engagement and sales effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the performance and development of Sales Consultants (SCs) within the district.
  • Conduct an average of 3-5 one-on-one coaching sessions with SCs each week.
  • Lead and facilitate Friday district meetings to educate and inspire sales teams.
  • Direct Customer Engagement efforts to provide expanded service options to Sysco customers.
  • Promote a continuous improvement mentality around technology, sales skills, and product knowledge.
  • Leverage Sales Support resources to maximize consultative time of SCs.
  • Utilize CRM for managing SC's sales planning and customer engagement effectively.
  • Deliver Sysco brand results and manage conversion opportunities within the district.
  • Support and promote national campaigns and promotions.
  • Provide coaching, training, and feedback to develop consultative selling skills of sales associates.
  • Utilize CMP and QPP Processes to coach performance of sales colleagues.
  • Execute territory planning and management effectively.
  • Build independent relationships with top customers and high-value prospects.
  • Champion company initiatives and implement center-led strategies within the district.
  • Handle additional sales management responsibilities and operational duties.

Requirements

  • High School education required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in growing profitable sales in the foodservice industry.
  • 5+ years of foodservice sales experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to derive insights through probing questions and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Superb organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficiency in using Sysco's CRM tool for planning and forecasting sales growth.
  • Mastery of consultative selling, marketing principles, and negotiations.
  • Ability to coach, counsel, train, and direct associates effectively.
  • Capable of supervising and motivating others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the foodservice industry is preferred.
